Enjoy Carnival in Tenerife, the island’s most popular festival

It’s not surprising, as Carnival is undeniably the most eagerly-anticipated event of the year for those who visit the island regularly (and not so regularly). Because Carnival, with its colour and cheer, attracts thousands of visitors, eager to immerse themselves in the electric atmosphere that pervades the island.

This year, the Carnival festivities in Tenerife kick off on Friday the 1st of March with a welcome parade and hundreds of carnival-goers in fancy dress, dancing in the streets until almost sunrise. So, if you were thinking of joining in the celebrations, be sure to come with your batteries fully charged and a desire to move your feet to the rhythm of the comparsas and music groups.

Declared a Tourist Festival of International Interest in 1980, attending this explosion of joy, rhythm and colour is a magnificent experience that everyone should try at least once in a lifetime.

If only because it is impossible not to be carried away by the spirit of Carnival in Tenerife, everyone should experience it. You’ll be accompanied by spring weather throughout the celebrations and, if you wish, you can take a dip in the sea or one of the island’s many natural pools to help you unwind after a magical day.
